Shiftmatic gearbox
This lightweight gearbox combines the functionality of an automatic with the characteristics of a manual. The Shiftmatic can be operated in either manual or automatic mode. In automatic mode the gears are automatically selected and for those times where extra acceleration is needed there is a kick-down function. If the driver wishes to use manual mode they simply push the gearlever forward to change down, or backwards to change up, giving all the benefits of a manual gearbox without the need for a manual clutch – ideal for driving around town or short haul work.

Power and poise
Our engineers have developed a completely new range of engines for the all new Volkswagen Crafter. The 2.5 litre, 5 cylinder common rail TDI diesel engines are available in a variety of power outputs from 80kW through to a thundering 120kW. Fuel efficiency plays an important part for every business, large or small, and the new Crafter delivers on both economy and high performance.
