Unbridled passion: the new GTI has arrived in Indonesia
The colour red stands for dynamism, passion and a spirited temperament. So it’s no wonder that you’ll often come across it in the new Golf GTI: starting with the strips on the radiator grille with its typical honeycomb design through to the brake callipers and the decorative stitching on the leather steering wheel, handbrake grip and gearshift gaiter. If it were possible to hear red it would sound like the GTI’s 2.0l 4V turbo engine: 155 kW (210 hp), acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h. (Fuel consumption: 7.3 – 7.4 l/100 km; CO2 emissions: 170 – 173 g/km).

Volkswagen named “Advertiser of the Year”
Volkswagen advertising has received a special accolade: after winning around 150 “Advertising Oscars” in Cannes since 1961, Europe’s largest car manufacturer has been awarded its first Lion in the special “Advertiser of the Year” category. The award presented at the “Cannes Lions 2009” International Advertising Festival is considered the highest accolade in the advertising industry. Since way back in the 1950s, Volkswagen has set advertising trends time and again, from the legendary advertising motifs for the Beetle to the multi-award winning campaign with Horst Schlämmer.
Golf: the safety benchmark
The new Golf is reaching for the stars and already has the five most important ones – the best Golf ever achieved exemplary results in the Euro NCAP crash test. Over the three test sections, which examine occupant, pedestrian and child protection, it scored a total of 36 out of a possible 37 points. The particularly sturdy body, which has undergone further improvement compared to its predecessor’s, and the new sensor concept for detecting collisions help to achieve this high standard of safety, as does the comprehensive safety specification: standard equipment for the new Golf includes seven airbags, an innovative head restraint system, plus ESP with brake assist.
